Where Compassion Meets Action: The Devoted Skies Story
Funso Olufade grew up between a sub-rural village in southwest Nigeria and Union County, New Jersey. His father, a physician trained in Nigeria, described the divide between the haves and the have-nots in a country where about 70% of people live in poverty and close to 90% of healthcare costs are paid out of pocket.
That reality became Devoted Skies in 2020 — a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) built to deliver medical supplies, forge clinic partnerships, and create lasting healthcare infrastructure across our project countries.
I realized as a young child that there needed to be a bridge between healthcare delivery and the financing of healthcare. Hospitals do not have to be bankrupt.
